My Malamute will play with anything from a jack russell to a deerhound but was branded aggressive by his previous owner. His favourites are golden retrievers. It is mostly down to how they are treated and dealt with. There is always the odd one of any breed that can be aggressive or unsocial but many of those classed as untrainable can be rehabilitated.
